Finally, I get around to putting this blog up, after living behind the Great Firewall that has been blocking my other blog. While I’m planning to change the layout again (oh horrors! as it was already a pain with a pre-made layout), for now, I’m just happy to have this up and back in business!
For my very first post, I thought I’d show you this fascinating thing unfurling in my tea. Scott and I had gone to Ba Guo Bu Yi (巴国布衣), a Sichuanese restaurant and one of our favourites in Beijing. There are several branches around the city, but the one that we always go to is set in a 四合院 (courtyard home). I had read somewhere that it had actually been the home of a Manchu prince.
We ordered the jasmine tea; this is what it looked like as the tea flower unfurled in the hot water.

You know, I think it would be kind of cool if you did a layout based on that photo. That’s an awesome photo.
